Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt Response:  My 8th-grade ESOL teacher’s gesture profoundly changed my perspective on failure. After I failed my first exam, I felt incredibly insecure. My teacher noticed my distress and offered words of comfort. The next morning, she gave me a letter expressing her pride in me. She acknowledged my unique circumstances and my intelligence. Her empathy and belief helped me see that failing was not an end, but a new beginning. This experience taught me the vital lesson of resilience. As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

Prompt Response:   As we age, a big conversation will be the balance between technology and human connection. It's about how all the new tech affects our relationships. For example, social media can link us up but sometimes makes us feel alone. AI at work is super efficient, but we need to think about human jobs. We'll discuss if tech helps or hurts real, face-to-face time. The main point is making sure technology helps our connections, not hurts them. Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

Prompt Response:   I was most afraid to accept that failure is a normal part of life. I always wanted to be perfect. I thought making mistakes meant I wasn't good enough. Write about a time when you were judged unfairly.

Prompt Response:   One time, when I was in 8th grade, I was the only Asian person at my new school and had just arrived in a new country. Because I was new and my accent was different, some people unfairly judged me, thinking I was unintelligent. They would often make fun of my accent, which was really hurtful. But I was determined to prove them wrong. I focused on my studies, and showed them through my academic achievements and my character that their initial assumptions were completely off the mark. In “The Interlopers” by Saki, Ulrich and Georg view each other as interlopers, outsiders intruding on their land and their lives. Think about a time when you felt like an interloper or when someone else felt out of place in your world. How did that situation affect relationships, emotions, or outcomes?

Prompt Response:   Going to my mom's friend's wedding made me feel like an outsider, or interloper, because I didn't know most of the people there. At first, I felt really shy and a bit awkward because I felt out of place. But as the day went on, I started talking to others and making new friends. This shows how even when you feel like you don't fit in, you can change that by getting to know people. In the end, I made good connections with the guests, which turned a situation where I felt strange into a happy experience. It really shows that reaching out can help you feel more comfortable and make new friends. Summary: Today in class we did a Lit com assignment. Reflection:  I read a new story and learned about it.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

Prompt Response:   What I enjoy most about creating a poem is the freedom to express my feelings and thoughts in a creative way. I love playing with rhyme, rhythm, and words to make something that feels real and beautiful. It’s exciting to find new ways to describe both simple moments and deep emotions, turning them into poetry.
