 Prompt Response: My 8th-grade ESOL teacher’s gesture profoundly changed my perspective on failure. After I failed my first exam, I felt incredibly insecure. My teacher noticed my distress and offered words of comfort. The next morning, she gave me a letter expressing her pride in me. She acknowledged my unique circumstances and my intelligence. Her empathy and belief helped me see that failing was not an end, but a new beginning. This experience taught me the vital lesson of resilience.

Summary: Today in class we start an assignment called writing evidence.

Prompt Response: Our group made sure everyone was involved by talking together in class and checking in often. We split the work so each person had something to do, like finding sources or writing a part. We made sure everyone understood their job. While working, we would ask each other how it was going and help if someone was confused. If someone was falling behind, we would remind them in a respectful way. This helped us stay on track and made sure everyone did their part. Summary: Today in class we work on gathering evidence from our sources. Reflection: I learned team work is dream work.

  Prompt Response:   One dream that felt real to me was my traveling adventure. I remember dreaming that I was exploring the world. I started at a pretty beach. I was playing in the water. It felt cool. Then, I was on a tall mountain. I walked near the edge. I slipped and fell. I felt myself fall off my bed. I woke up fast. The fall made the dream feel so real. Summary: Today in class we wrote lesson 3 vocabulary with a sentence and did a  NewELA- Cancel Culture. Reflection: I learned about new vocabulary.

Prompt Response:   As the first semester comes to an end, I can honestly say I’ve grown a lot in this class. What I enjoyed most was getting to read different types of poems and discussions about new things related to the real worlds. The assignment I found most engaging was the cultural Mask projects because they helped me express my thoughts, become more confident in my ethnicity and get to know all my classmates more. I connected the most with the poems analyzing and writing bloggers since I liked analyzing characters. Moving into the spring semester, I think I need to work on improving my grammar and writing essays and thesis so my writing can be clearer and stronger.
