In Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless gives up many of his possessions in pursuit of freedom and meaningful experiences. If you had to simplify your life and keep only a few important possessions, what would you keep and why? What would be hardest to leave behind?

Prompt Response: If I had to simplify my life and keep only a few things, I would keep the things that are most important to me. I would keep my phone so I can stay in touch with my family and friends. I would also keep some basic clothes and a notebook to write my thoughts and memories. The hardest things to leave behind would be personal items like photos or gifts from people I care about. Those things remind me of special moments and the people who are important in my life. Even though they are just objects, they mean a lot to me because of the memories connected to them.

  Prompt Response:   One dream that felt real to me was my traveling adventure. I remember dreaming that I was exploring the world. I started at a pretty beach. I was playing in the water. It felt cool. Then, I was on a tall mountain. I walked near the edge. I slipped and fell. I felt myself fall off my bed. I woke up fast. The fall made the dream feel so real. Prompt Response:   As the first semester comes to an end, I can honestly say I’ve grown a lot in this class. What I enjoyed most was getting to read different types of poems and discussions about new things related to the real worlds. The assignment I found most engaging was the cultural Mask projects because they helped me express my thoughts, become more confident in my ethnicity and get to know all my classmates more. I connected the most with the poems analyzing and writing bloggers since I liked analyzing characters. Moving into the spring semester, I think I need to work on improving my grammar and writing essays and thesis so my writing can be clearer and stronger.
