The last scene forces readers to reinterpret Emily’s entire life. Write about a moment when new information changes your perception of a person or situation. How did that “plot twist” reshape your understanding, the same way Faulkner’s ending reshapes the story?

Prompt Response: Learning about my grandfather's bravery in our country's war of freedom completely changed how I saw him. Before, I just saw a quiet man living a simple life. But knowing he fought in that war made his quietness feel like strength. It showed me he'd been through so much and carried big sacrifices. Now, his whole life feels connected to our country's story, not just his own.

Summary: Today in class my classmate took a test but I did not.

Reflection:  I came in late so I did not take the test.

Write about a dream that felt real.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?
