In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt Response: A classmate once relied on me too much for homework answers. They kept demanding solutions late at night. I decided to set a clear boundary. I told them I would only help explain concepts, not do the work. This first hurt our friendship. They got mad and pulled away for a bit. But it actually helped in the end. They learned to ask for help on how to solve problems instead of just asking for answers. Our friendship became better because it had more mutual respect.

Summary: Today in class we did a Common Lit assignment.

Reflection: I finished my Common Lit assignment.

Write about a dream that felt real.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?
